Dorset Flora Group: Green Winged Orchid Counts at Stonebarrow (Westhay fields)

Annual monitoring of Green Winged Orchids in Westhay fields, on the National Trust’s
Golden Cap Estate. Joint meeting with National Trust Ecology Volunteers.

We will sweep a number of fields which are monitored annually. Numbers in 2024 were
about 80,000. It is one of the best sites in the UK for this early flowering orchid. Bring a mat
to kneel on for counting if needed!
